This is the new version of the fan account I wrote in 2016. I met Li Yifeng in New York and it was an amazing experience. Now that I recall the memories after years, and it still feels unreal.
Arriving at the Radio City Music Hall around 1:30 PM, I spent an hour looking for a good position in the red carpet crowd (black carpet to be exact) and three more hours waiting in the middle of the freezing weather. Waiting in 2-degree-Celsius weather, some of the Mifengs (Li Yifeng’s fans) even mischievously shouted “Li Yifeng, quickly come to us, it’s freaking cold out here!”
Noticing how clueless and unprepared I was, a fan gave me a warm bag so I wouldn’t get myself frozen. I was given a yellow banner “Mifeng in North America” and it was so cute! Like I wasn’t lucky enough, I also receive a limited “Batman v Superman” shirt from the organizers despite not being a fan.
After 4 hours of waiting, the girl next to me suddenly screamed “Feng ge!!!” which startled me. He finally appeared and looked flawlessly in a gray suit. And it all was totally worth the wait.
The red carpet was a road away from the crowd. Thus, it wasn’t easy to approach the celebrities walking the red carpet. Li Yifeng was about to walk the red carpet when he released that it led directly to the private venue. Thinking of the fans who were waiting for him, he let other celebrities walk first and literally crossed the road to approach his fans. Li Yifeng was accompanied by a photographer, an interpreter, and his personal assistant. They all took quick and long strides toward us. We were so surprised and touched at the same time.
When he got closer to us, a Mifeng was so excited that she dropped her scarf. Li Yifeng walked over to her place, picked up the scarf, and put it back on her. What a lucky girl!
He first joined everyone to take group photos.
After that, he spent a few minutes chatting with us while signing autographs. I didn’t take any photos because I wanted to see him with my eyes and keep this very own moment in my mind. He looked in my direction at least twice, successfully making me delude myself that he intentionally made eye contact with me.
Li Yifeng was handsome and beautiful at the same. His body was tall and elegant which neither too thin nor too bulky, and the proportion was top-notch. His face was small and extremely delicate.
Believe me, most Chinese stars look much thinner in real life! Li Yifeng had no chubby cheek, but the cameras did add 10 kgs. Even when I looked back at the photos taken that day, I did not think that they fully represented how handsome he was in real life.
I didn’t hear everything he said but his voice was calm and soft. Someone asked if he slept well that night because he looked quite pale. He then cutely pouted “I only slept for two hours last night.” His every move had those calm and elegant feels.
Since time was urgent, he wasn’t able to sign for everyone. When he got called by his assistant, Li Yifeng quickly told everyone, “Hope to see you back in China.” Heading back to the red carpet, he didn’t forget to turn around to wave goodbye and say “Thank you!”
Everyone was so excited that some even kept shouting “Li Yifeng, I love you.” The friend next to me mumbled, “I love you 100 thousand years!!”
I was surprised by how calm I was at that time. I only left when his silhouette completely disappeared into the venue. Strolling down the crowded New York sidewalks, all that remained in me was lonely feelings. It was like waking up from a dream and facing the reality.
